Storm devastation in Bavaria: Trace of destruction after violent storms

super cell leads to floods in small cities

A serious storm was passed through parts of Bavaria on Friday evening and caused considerable damage in some small towns. The super cell brought heavy rain, hail and strong winds that led to floods and destruction.

The city of Betzigau in the Allgäu was particularly affected. The strong storms left driftwood under a bridge over a stream and led to severe floods in the basement of a rectory and in the local cemetery.

Immenstadt in the Allgäu was also hit by the strong rainfall. One street was completely under water, and hailstones drove on the flooded surface, which almost reminded of a winter sight.

Even in the state capital of Munich, the storm was noticeable. The open-air event "Classic at Odeonsplatz" had to be canceled prematurely due to the impending storm. After the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio had played passages from Richard Wagner's "Valkyrie", the planned part was canceled with Johannes Brahms.

The effects of super cell illustrate the potential danger of extreme weather events that can occur at any time. It becomes clear how important it is to be prepared for such natural phenomena and take appropriate protective measures.
