Bayreuth is investing 1.6 million euros: Cultural funding causes a dispute!

The city of Bayreuth plans to provide 1.6 million euros for culture and home care, whereby the city council largely accepts the proposals of the cultural committee. The focus of the discussion was the grant for the renowned concert event Bayreuth Baroque, which is to receive 340,000 euros. Critics, including the Greens City Councilor Sabine Steininger, argue that this support was originally announced as temporary, but has now become a permanent facility. Mayor Thomas Ebersberger and CSU City Councilor Stefan Specht defend the funds as valuable for the reputation of the city.

The focus is also on the association nine and a half: it receives almost 19,000 euros, including almost 12,000 euros in rent. An application for additional personnel cost grants of 3,200 euros was approved. The support for the Bayreuth Festival, which will be funded at 1,524,120 euros and will finally be discussed in the city council on October 23, 2024.
