Ultra ie dust from the airport: Wartenberg in danger!
In an alarming citizens 'meeting in Wartenberg, the Freising citizens' association presented frightening measurements for ultra -dust (UFP) from the nearby airport. Mayor Christian Pröbst commented concerns about the results that a team from the University of Bayreuth and the Helmholtz Center raised between May and July 2024. Rottmann, the chairman of the citizens' association, explained that 20 kilograms of pollutants are released in the production of a ton of kerosene. Days are particularly critical with strong winds from the airport side, on which the UFP values in Wartenberg were well above the limit of 10,000 particles per cubic centimeter.
From the airport,Rottmann called for measures to reduce air pollution, including the use of low-sulfur kerosins, which could reduce the UFP concentration by up to 40 percent. He criticized that the critical particle concentration was exceeded on more than twelve percent of the days. Pröbst supplemented that the inhalation of such burdened air harbors health risks. These dramatic developments lead to an urgent need for solutions to improve air quality in the region, as well as www.merkur.de reports .
