Preliminary information on severe storms: What can southeast Bavaria expect at the weekend?

Weather forecast: heavy rain and thunderstorms in Southeast Bavaria awaited

The German Weather Service (DWD) warns for the coming weekend of violent storms in the Southeast Bavaria region. After a short high, we are facing uncomfortable weather again that could bring heavy rain, hail and gusts of wind. The "preliminary information on severe storms" of the DWD concerns all counties in the region and notes a high risk of storm.

From Saturday afternoon, heavy thunderstorms are expected to move east from the Alps. Heavy rain with up to 40 liters per square meter in a short time, hurricane -like gusts with speeds up to 115 kilometers per hour and hailstog with a diameter of up to three centimeters. In the course of the afternoon and evening, the weather will calm down from the west.

The affected counties, including Rosenheim, Berchtesgadener Land, Traunstein, Mühldorf am Inn and Altötting, should prepare for bad weather. Although there is still no official severe weather warning, protective measures should be taken to minimize possible damage. It is recommended to follow the official warnings in detail and to stay up to date.

While the temperatures in the eastern half of Bavaria remain warm summer and can reach values between 27 and 31 degrees, it will be significantly cooler in the West with maximum temperatures of 21 to 24 degrees. Local warnings of heavy or persistent rain are also possible on Sunday. It is advisable to watch the weather carefully and take appropriate precautions.

We recommend that all residents of the Southeast Bavaria region prepare for the upcoming storm and to consider the official warnings of the DWD. Stay safe and dry!
