Modernization of the B 3 for more security and traffic in Zwingenberg

The construction work on the road renewal of the federal road B 3 in Zwingenberg, which was initiated by Hessen Mobil in mid -June, is about to finish. This significant infrastructure project aims to improve traffic safety and fluid in the passage through.

Next Friday, July 12th, the section of the B 3 between the local petrol station and Alsbach will be released for traffic again. This is a milestone in the modernization of this important traffic artery.

The comprehensive measures to renew the B 3 extends over a length of about 940 meters, from the L3100 (Alsbacher Straße) to the district border near Alsbach. The construction phase was divided into two parts, whereby the northern section has already been completed.

A special highlight of this construction work is the construction of a new barrier -free pedestrian crossing at Friedrichstrasse. In the future, this will be regulated by a traffic light system to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles. In addition, the traffic light system on Walter-Möller-Straße was renewed to further optimize the flow of traffic.

The southern construction phase, which extends between the L3100 (Alsbacher Straße) and the petrol station, is only tackled in spring 2025 due to time constraints. This also serves to avoid impairments for rail replacement on the B 3 in connection with the renewal of the Riedbahn between Mannheim and Darmstadt.

The modernization of the B 3 in Zwingenberg is an important step to improve the traffic infrastructure. It underlines the commitment to the security and comfort of all road users in the region. This project will help to facilitate the mobility of the residents and to increase the attractiveness of the place as a traffic junction.
