An incident on Friday afternoon in Heidelberg caused a sensation when a 57-year-old Mazda driver overlooked a tram on line 25 and collided with her. Fortunately, no one was harmed despite the incident, but considerable damage to property occurred.
The accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. when the Mazda driver drove the mountain road towards Heidelberg. At the intersection with Schwabenheimer Straße, the 52-year-old driver decided to turn left despite a prohibition sign. At that moment he overlooked the tram, which was behind him in the same direction. The collision led to damage of around 2500 euros on the Mazda and around 5000 euros on the tram.
The authorities were immediately informed about the incident and initiated corresponding measures. Fortunately, all occupants remained unharmed, but the incident illustrates the importance of always being at the wheel and the traffic rules observed in order to avoid such accidents.
It is advisable to exercise extreme caution, especially when turning and interaction with other road users such as pedestrians and public transport to ensure the safety of all road users.
