Increase unaccompanied minor refugees in Berlin: a challenge for the city.

Berlin - More and more unaccompanied refugees arrive in Berlin, without parents or legal guardians. The estimates indicate that the number will increase to around 3,400 by the end of the year. Two thirds of them were almost of legal age to take in. According to the youth senate, the age information in 2340 registered cases shows that most of them are almost of legal age. Most are boys, only 9 percent are girls. The refugees come mainly from Afghanistan, Syria, Ukraine, Turkey, and Benin, as well as from many other countries.

Compared to the previous year, the access has increased from 12 minors to 16 a day. The initial reception in Prinzregentenstraße (Schöneberg) is open around the clock. The costs will be climbed to 80 million by the end of the year, and 24 million euros were received in the previous year. The first conversation with the arriving is delayed, currently waiting in 1280. The Senate is therefore planning to increase the staff around nine social educators and administrative experts.

Language courses and learning workshops are offered in the accommodations, and a school offer is also planned. Only after the initial interview are the refugees recorded and examined in terms of health.
