Böller ban on New Year's Eve: Where the police take through hard!

In Berlin, the celebrations for New Year's Eve are under strict requirements: The police have announced the firing zones that apply to New Year's night. Alexanderplatz, Pallassstraße in Schöneberg Steinmetz-Kiez and parts of the Sonnenallee are particularly affected. The ban comes into force on New Year's Eve at 6 p.m. and is valid until the New Year at 6 a.m. In these zones it is not only prohibited from shooting fireworks, but also the possession of knives, as to what additional safety measures should indicate, such as

The Berlin police emphasize that the monitoring of these prohibition zones and the use of security forces is responsible for private security services. In the past, on New Year's Eve, there have been repeated collapsing in these zones, in which police officers were also thrown at firecrackers. The police union therefore demands more comprehensive measures and advocates that pyrotechnics may only be used by professionals and in controlled environments. Also Welt emphasizes that the organizers of the New Year's celebrations at the Brandenburg Gate have expressly prohibited the use of pyrotechnics.

In order to counteract the potential violence that has occurred in recent years during New Year's Eve celebrations, more than 2,800 additional police officers will be in use. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser expressed concerns that the New Year's Eve again could be overlaid by violent riots, especially against emergency services. This is intended to optimize the safety precautions to enable safe celebrations.
