Animal highlights and gourmet trends: Green Week will soon open in Berlin!
From 19 to January 28, 2025, the International Green Week opens its goals in Berlin. Under the motto "Protect nutrition. Protect nature", the traditional agricultural fair, which has existed since 1926, will offer a variety of attractions. Visitors from agriculture, gastronomy and animal husbandry are expected, which are spoiled in the exhibition halls with culinary highlights from a total of 60 countries and 12 federal states, including Berlin and Brandenburg. The fair is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on "Langen Friday", January 26, even until 8 p.m.
mouth and claw disease overshadow the event
Unfortunately, this year's event is overshadowed by the outbreak of the mouth and claw disease in Brandenburg, which was diagnosed on January 10, 2025. This disease affects claw animals and is considered one of the most important animal diseases worldwide due to its economic effects. In order to prevent the spread, no receptive animal species such as cattle or sheep are exhibited at the green week. However, the responsible veterinarians and food inspectors of the Charlottenburg -Wilmersdorf regulatory office will carry out rigorous controls to ensure the safety of animals and food.
Despite the health concerns, the Green Week will again offer numerous program items this year, including the 10th FN federal cold bluts and the FN Bundeshengstschau of the fjord horses. Animal lovers can look forward to a varied offer, even if animal species such as donkeys and alpacas will continue to be on site. All controls, including the guarantee of food safety and wine control, are continuously carried out throughout the fair to guarantee a smooth process and the health of the visitors.
For everyone who wants to visit the Green Week, there are various ticket options: a day ticket costs 16 euros, reduced tickets are also available. Visitors can look forward to a rich program with agricultural impulses, culinary delights and a lot of opportunity for networking, while they discover the latest trends and innovations in the industry, as the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office announced in its press release.
