Digital innovations at a glance: winner of the Egovernment competition 2023

As part of the 23rd Egovernment competition, outstanding projects for administrative modernization were recently honored in Berlin. The cooperation between BearingPoint and Cisco produced a various selection of innovative approaches to the digitization of the public sector. The award ceremony took place on September 5 as part of the 29th ministerial congress and presented the final projects from a total of 19 authorities from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The interesting thing about this competition is the principle of citizen participation, because 4,937 people were able to choose their favorite project in a public online voting. This form of co -determination shows that digital solutions are estimated not only by experts, but also by the citizens and suggests that the participation in digitization processes is becoming increasingly important.

The award of the winning projects

In a top -class jury, projects were awarded in five different categories that improve with special innovations and future -oriented approaches. Each of the award -winning projects deals with the most urgent challenges that agreed the authorities and society as a whole, such as migration, integration questions and the influence of climate change.

Jon Abele, Head of Public Services at BearingPoint, emphasized how important the excellent designs for the current social challenges are. The progressive digitization of the public sector can have a significant positive effect on efficiency and services for citizens.

The category "Digitization thrust by AI and modern infrastructure" was won, among other things, by the "Kira" project of the German Pension Insurance BUND. This project innovates test processes through artificial intelligence, which increases both efficiency and counteracts personnel bottlenecks.

In the category "Administrative processes rethinked from start to finish", the "Curiaplus" project was awarded by the parliamentary services of the Federal Parliament, which digitized modern parliamentary processes and thus revolutionized the management of political processes.

The excellent projects illustrate how multifaceted approaches to modernize administrative are. The heating stlas Hessen, which supports the heat transition digitally, shows the importance of sustainable implementations in digitization. With the creation of such a tool, the potential of digital solutions to achieve climate goals becomes clear.

The “Klimkommune.digital” project from the city of Hagen and Enervie Service GmbH also stands out by enabling a real-time CO2 balance using a multi-sensor systems. These future -oriented applications show how digital transformation can be connected directly to environmental protection and social responsibility.

Finally, the audience award went to the project "Digitization platform for foreign specialists" of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and for home, which improves the process of skill in digital offers. This is of great importance for the German labor market, which is dependent on the demographic change on international specialists.

The egovernment competition, which has been organized by BearingPoint and Cisco for 23 years, not only shows the progress in public administration, but also the need to continuously find innovative solutions. By exchanging ideas and techniques, the path is paved to a digitized, efficient administration.
