Young trees urgently need irrigation: citizens asked

The press release No. 86 of April 19, 2024 informs about the current conditions for irrigation of young trees in the city. Due to the above -average wet winter months and the below -average dry March, the young trees are particularly dependent on deep irrigation. The tree management of the street and green space office in Berlin will again water around 1,300 young trees in public space this year.

Due to limited personnel capacities, the district is dependent on the support of the citizens to ensure the irrigation of the young city trees. The early vegetation period this year already makes it necessary for citizens to become active and help to water the trees in the public street.

The phenological clock of the German Weather Service shows that the vegetation started almost half a month earlier than on the long -term average this year. This illustrates the need for early and intensive irrigation of the young trees to promote their growth and health.
