Improved traffic safety: construction work in Revaler Strasse almost completed
The construction work on Revaler Strasse in Berlin-Friedrichshain has almost been completed and have increased the safety for cycling and foot traffic and created space for delivery and charging processes. New bicycle traffic facilities over a length of 600 meters, on both sides of the road, are now separated from traffic by adhesive chords. A pedestrian crossing was set up and seven new delivery zones with a total of 14 delivery places were created.
District City Councilor Annika Gerold emphasized the importance of the measure for the traffic safety of the weaker road users and the orderly delivery traffic. Cyclists now have unhindered and safe access to the entire street, which represents a further step towards closing gaps in the bicycle traffic network.
Rest work, mainly the installation of bollards at the intersections, will be completed in the current quarter. In addition, bicycle brackets are to be installed on former parking spaces. A medium-term redesign of some car parking areas into wider sidewalks is planned, but the financing has not yet been determined.
This measure in Revaler Straße is another step towards a safer and more livable city for cyclists and pedestrians in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
