Final event of the series floating books in Berlin: Attention reading lovers!

On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 8:00 p.m., the final event of the popular series "Floating Books" takes place in the foyer of the district central library "Mark Twain" in Berlin. The series of events was launched in 2012 by the librarians of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf City Library and has developed into one of the most successful formats of literature mediation. In a cozy atmosphere, two to three libraries met with interested visitors every six weeks to talk about books away from the bestseller lists. The events were also published as a podcast.

The 100th episode of the "floating books" is a special occasion to celebrate this success and create space for new ideas. On this occasion, the district central library Sonja Longolius and Janika Gelinek from the Literaturhaus Berlin as well as Tanja Schirn and Anette Wackernagel from the Hugendubel bookstore invited as guests. Together with the audience, they will talk about their favorite books and dedicate the evening to the topic.

The event is free, but a donation is asked to donate to the Förderverein Stadtbibliothek Marzahn-Hellersdorf e.V. to support the financing of the further events. Interested parties can register by phone at 030-54704142 or by email to ines.bartel@ba-mh.berlin.de.

The district central library Marzahn-Hellersdorf and the "floating books" have developed into important cultural contact points in Berlin. The regular events offer a platform for the exchange of those interested in literature and bring people together. This exchange is enriched again by the guests from the Literaturhaus Berlin and the Hugendubel bookstore, as they can offer a wide insight into different literary works.
