Neukölln planted over 200 new trees for a greener cityscape!

In a significant step towards improving the urban environment, the district office Neukölln in Berlin will plant new street trees and 98 trees in public green areas in this planting period. This Initiative aims to compensate for the loss of city trees and at the same time improve air quality. Trees are not only important for the aesthetic design of the city, but also donate shadows and promote biodiversity, which is of great importance in a densely populated district like Neukölln, as the district office reports.

The new trees are planted in various streets, including August-Fröhlich-Straße and Köpenicker Straße, as well as in the green area Schirpitzer Weg, where 82 trees are created as avenue. Special care concepts ensure that the trees can grow well and develop. These measures are financed by funds from various Senate administrations. Jochen Biedermann, the district councilor for urban development, emphasizes the need for reliable means for the care and preservation of the city nature in view of the progressive urbanization.

The importance of street trees

such as the publication of Edition703 , street trees are more than just plants: they are an essential cultural performance of urban construction. They create a human dimension in urban space, offer protection and carry to air purification. Their changing colors in the course of the seasons contribute significantly to the cityscape. The book describes the history of the street trees in cities such as Saarbrücken and emphasizes the cultural and historical importance of these green elements.

The upcoming planting project in Neukölln, supported by various programs for urban development and adaptation to the climate intensity, is a crucial step to create a greener and more livable environment. Despite the challenges associated with the compression of urban spaces, the care and upgrading of our city nature remains a central task for the future development of Berlin.
