Neukölln says goodbye: grief for Gabriele Vonnekold
The district office Neukölln is in deep grief! On September 30, 2024, Gabriele Vonnekold left us, a true icon of the district. The former district councilor for youth and the tireless parliamentary group leader of Bündnis 90/The Greens leaves a shining gap in the political life of Neukölln.
Born in 1952 and grew up in Neukölln, Gabriele Vonnekold was much more than just a politician. She was a founding figure of the alternative list, which first heard her voice in the district assembly in 1981. Her passion for the improvement of the life of people in her district shaved for over four decades and led her through a wide variety of offices, from the House of Representatives to BVV.
a life for Neukölln
From 2001 to 2006 she served again in BVV before she was elected district councilor for youth. In this role, she was fully committed to the interests of the young people and drew attention to herself with her tireless commitment.
"Gabi Vonnekold was Neuköllnerin through and through. For 40 years she campaigned for the people in our district," enthuses district mayor Martin Hikel. "Gabi spared neither herself nor others. Her goal was to make life a little better for people. Our district is grateful for that." A moving legacy that will not only shape politics, but also the lives of many citizens.
Gabriele Vonnekold has inspired all of Neukölln with her unshakable commitment and her passion, and her loss is a difficult blow for everyone who has benefited from their commitment in recent decades. Your relative and friend: our deep sympathy now applies.
