Ceremonial opening of the new primary school in Weißensee: One step into the future

Pankow raises the school building offensive to a whole new level! The 49th elementary school on Rennbahnstrasse in the lively district of Weißensee is on the basis of immersing in the school landscape of Berlin with fresh wind. This innovative Compartment School-the third of its kind in the capital-was stamped out of the ground at lightning speed and offers space for a lot of inquisitive kids!

With an imposing new building, a modern, double-story 6-field sports hall and an existing modular supplementary construction-which has now been officially opened-the new school is a real show project. In the future, a proud 576 students can learn in a light, inviting environment. And all of this was realized for around 67.4 million euros!

The bright future of education

At the ceremonial opening, Dr. Torsten Kühne, State Secretary of the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family, the reason behind this impressive building. "We build modern schools for Berlin-fast and effective! This great Four-drawing primary school does justice to the needs of over 570 students. Everyone has the opportunity to learn in an inviting and innovative environment!"

The Senate Building Director Prof. Petra Kahlfeldt also praised the quick progress: "With this school we make sure that our students have access to a library, a multi -purpose room and a sports hall. This new hall is the largest among the new school projects - ideal for sporting competitions and events!"

But not everything went wrong: During the construction work, some water damage occurred that led to unpleasant delays. "Such obstacles are a real challenge, but we reacted quickly," said Jörn Pasternack, district councilor for school, sports and facility management. "Despite these setbacks, we were able to finish the project within 18 months!" The commitment to create powerful and contemporary educational rooms was unmistakable!

While the outside area of ​​the school- with specially designed sports and leisure activities- is still waiting for its completion, the students can already use the green classroom and the versatile play and sports fields. Not only knowledge is conveyed here, but also space for creativity and movement is created!

The modular construction concept made it possible for the school to be built faster. This innovative planning creates better learning conditions that everyone can hold - including the needs of children with handicap! With this building, Berlin is making a strong sign of the future of education!
