New cool room in Tegel - Higher retreat opened

On September 18, 2024, a special day was in Tegel when city councilor Uwe Brockhausen inaugurated the third "cool room" in the TEK Dream Event-Flohr-Saal at Flohrstraße 19 as part of the heat protection plan of the Reinickendorf district. Cool rooms serve as a retreat for the population to protect themselves from heat and rest. The first two locations are located in the Face Family Center and in the Ribbeck-Haus district center, both in the Märkisches Viertel.

The city council Uwe Brockhausen (SPD) praised the cooperation and emphasized the importance of the new cool space for heat protection in Reinickendorf. This location was made available for the first time by an economy, which hopefully encourages other companies to also get involved in heat protection.

The cooperation with TEK Dream Event, led by Baris Akdag, underlines the commitment to social responsibility and the search for innovative solutions for climatic challenges. This collaboration was initiated by Sevda Boyraci and Nicole Borkenhagen from the Reinickendorf district council.

In heat warning level 1 of the German Weather Service, the cool spaces are available to the citizens to protect themselves from extreme heat from the health risks. These rooms offer drinking water, seating and lying options as well as sanitary facilities.

The opening of this new cool room marks an important step towards heat protection for the residents of Reinickendorf and demonstrates the joint effort to take care of the well -being of everyone. Further details on heat protection and the available cool rooms can be found on the website of the Reinickendorf health department.
