Prologis builds sustainable all-electric building in Tegel

On Thursday (May 16), the topping-out ceremony on Wittestrasse in Tegel took place, where the logistician Prologis builds an innovative, sustainable and climate-neutral all-electric building. The property was acquired in 2021 and previously an iron foundry was torn down. The Prologis Park Berlin DC4 is particularly characterized by its sustainability, since no fossil fuels are used for energy supply. The building is supplied with electricity via a photovoltaic system on the roof and heated by an air and heat pump. In addition, all parking spaces are equipped with electric charging stations, including two quick charging stations for trucks. The green facade greening is intended to increase biodiversity and promote the well -being of the tenants.

Prologis, one of the largest logistics companies in Germany, sees the Berlin-Brandenburg region as particularly prospering. In Reinickendorf, in Wittestrasse, the company has selected its first location. In addition to the sustainable development of the area, there is also an educational center that embodies the motto "Master instead of Master". Prologis is also committed to the common good by z. B. daycare centers and freelancers supported.

District Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU) pointed out the historical past of the location in which Prologis is now investing. She recalled that the idyllic Dalldorfer Heide 1892/93 was catapulted into industrial modernity with the construction of the Kremmener Eisenbahn. So Prologis is in the best company, since factories such as Borsig and Carl Flohr had settled there. The mayor warmly welcomed Prologis and wished good luck.
