Playground on the Büsumer path: Dangerous contamination rediscovered

Shock at the Büsumer Path playground! For the fourth time this year, this popular place for children became the scene of willful contamination. On November 12, 2024, when students played happily in the sand, they came across dangerous nails - a nightmare that puts parents and supervisors on alert!

The students acted quickly and immediately informed the authorities. First of all, the area was cordoned off by the police to ensure the security of the little explorers. But the extent of the danger turned out to be much greater than the first findings showed!

A profound examination by the street and green space office revealed the horror: the nails had not only distributed themselves superficially in the sand, but also penetrated the lowest layers! A simple removal is therefore impossible. The pressing necessity? A complete replacement of the sand - a costly undertaking that could rapid up to over 20,000 euros!

Until the playground renovation is complete, the Büsumer path remains closed for security reasons. Any events such as the spraying of broken glass at the beginning of November are doubts about the security of this venue. The repeated sabotage files jeopardize the safety of the children and also put a strain on the public funds!

The Reinickendorf district office now asks the citizens for help! Protection and security are the top priority - any reference to suspicious activities near playgrounds could be crucial. "It is inconceivable that someone deliberately endangers the security of children and accepts potentially serious injuries. The security of our playgrounds has a top priority for me. We will take all the necessary measures to make the playground safe and accessible as quickly as possible," announces Julia Schrod-Thiel (CDU), the district councilor for order, environment and traffic.
