Ruhnert leads BSW to the Bundestag election campaign: the way to solve the crises!

The alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) causes a sensation: On Sunday Oliver Ruhnert, former manager of the 1st FC Union Berlin, was elected to be the top candidate for the Bundestag election with 87.6 percent at a state party conference in Berlin. His nomination marks the first appearance of the BSW in the Bundestag election campaign after the Berlin State Association was only founded in July. Ruhnert, who emphasized the life story of a fifth child of a single mother, called for more equality and a “real alternative” to current politics when he outlined his visions for Germany. In view of the political times for many concerns, especially because of the Ukraine War, Ruhnert said that the BSW wanted to be a strong voice for peace in the Bundestag, with real diplomatic efforts for de-escalation.

strong voices and critical charges

The supporters at the party conference not only cheered Ruhnert; the other candidates also convinced. Sevim Dagdelen received 89.6 percent, Norman Wolf 87.6 percent and Josephine Thyrêt also 89.6 percent of the vote. Dagdelen sharply criticized the Federal Government's arms deliveries in the Ukraine conflict and warned of the dangers of an impending nuclear war. Wolf joined this criticism and accused the government of leading Germany to the brink of a third World War. As n-tv.de decided to put together the state list in the coming months and the proven strength nominate.

The party founder Sahra Wagenknecht commented in a video message and called on the delegates to a "hard and committed" election campaign. While the BSW celebrated success in its previous participations in Thuringia and Brandenburg, however, the chances of moving into the Bundestag are on the brink and sometimes only above the five percent hurdle. This means that the BSW has to prove itself in the upcoming election campaign in order to represent the voice for social justice and peace that Ruhnert and its fellow campaigners strive for, as already rbb24.de reported.
