Self -determination law starts: thousands of applications in Berlin!

From November 1st, it will be easier for many people in Berlin to adapt their name and gender to their own reality of life! The new self -determination law has already received over 1,200 applications in the registry offices of the capital, and that has only been counted so far. Many Berliners are ready for this step - they finally want to see their identity officially recognized! The numbers are impressive in various districts: Steglitz-Zehlendorf reports 78 applications, Tempelhof-Schöneberg 128 and Pankow 142.

The applications must be registered with the registry office at least three months before the appointment, and since August people have been able to submit their forms. The mayors and registry offices are already active to process the applications. The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district was particularly active with 208 registrations, of which 121 have already been given an appointment for certification.
