Language and integration courses: What does that mean for immigrants?

changes in integration and language courses for immigrants

In Germany, there are changes in the integration and language courses for immigrants. The government in Berlin plans to drastically reduce the funds provided for this year. This happens against the background of declining migration into the country. The financial resources are to be halved from the current 1.1 billion euros to 500 million euros. Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) emphasizes that the focus of the household will be on internal security next year, which is why she speaks of a "security budget".

changes in security authorities and budget planning

In the coming year, a total of 13.75 billion euros will be planned for the budget of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, an increase compared to the current year. The federal police are expected to receive 417 million euros more, the Federal Criminal Police Office 115 million more and the Federal Office for Disaster Protection more than 72 million euros. These changes result from the draft budget for 2025, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP). The design is to be approved by the cabinet and then discussed and decided in parliament.

planning of the Afghanistan program

Another point concerns the Federal Recording Program for endangered Afghans. The program is not continued, but people who already have a promise and are outside of Afghanistan should be allowed to come to Germany. New commitments are not planned. The program is aimed at persons who are particularly at risk through their commitment in the field of women and human rights, justice, politics, media, education, culture, sport or science. Since the Taliban took over in August 2021, people at risk have been able to come to Germany via the program.
