Diving into the unknown: Berlin octopus moves into the new home!

The closure of the Sea Life Aquarium in Berlin has dramatic consequences: Just one week after the final closure, the last sea creatures were relocated, including a 1.5 -year -old octopus, which has now found its new home in the Berlin aquarium. Aquarium curator Markus Klamt personally took over the transport of the still nameless Kraken, who has moved into the new pool with his own "condominium"-an amphora from clay. In addition to the octopus, four cat sharks and several snowfish were also relocated. The new pools in the aquarium offer the animals optimal conditions, although the move was necessary due to the closure of the Sea Life, which will set the business at the end of the year, as bz-berlin.de reports.

But not only in Berlin sea creatures have to be resettled: The Sea Life in the North Rhine-Westphalian Königswinter will also close at the end of the year. According to an official announcement by the city, the closure follows due to economic challenges, including through high investments, inflation pressure and increasing energy costs. The building that is over 17 years old is not used further and the future of the property is uncertain. The head of the Sea Life Aquariums in the region, Martin Lind, announced that they are now working primarily to find suitable new accommodations for the animals and at the same time are looking for new tasks for the employees concerned within the group of companies, which belongs to the British Merlin Entertainments Group href = "https://www.tag24.de/nortales/nordrhein-westfalen/sea-life-schschliesst-noch-2022-an-diesem-deutschen-stort-2680585"> TAG24.de reported.

The closures have far -reaching effects on the animals and staff as well as the aquarist landscape in Germany, since seven other locations remain active in Berlin after the Sea Life was lost. This development forces the operators to become creative in order to find a solution to the upcoming challenges. While the animals' removals are quickly carried out, it remains to be seen how the situation is for the employees and the buildings.
