Election campaign rages in Berlin: Parties hang up 120,000 posters!

Berlin faces an exciting election campaign! On February 23, 2025, the early Bundestag election takes place, and the Berlin parties give everything to be in the race for voting. As early as Sunday, at least 120,000 election posters are hung by five large parties all over the city, as both B.Z. as well as Tagesspiegel report. The majority of the posters are attached to lanterns, supported by hundreds of large -scale displays, so -called Wesselmänner.

In particular, the CDU goes into the election campaign with full commitment and plans around 40,000 posters on lanterns and 1,000 large area posters. The left follows with around 24,000 small posters and 300 large ones. The Greens also rely on more than 20,000 posters, while the FDP wants to hang 17,000 small and 440 large posters. The AfD also shows presence with around 16,000 posters. According to the Berlin Road Act, parties are only allowed to start positively six weeks before an election, which challenges the strategies of the election workers. Many gather from midnight to secure the best locations for their posters, and often they are active before permission.

costs of the election campaign increase

The financial effort for this election campaign is considerable: the Berlin Greens are expecting a total budget of 730,000 euros, while the FDP estimates around 500,000 euros for its campaign. The left is planning around 300,000 euros. Despite the frequent election campaigns, the capital is placed on strong poster to draw the voters aware of their own program. Despite the digital times when social media and online advertising dominate, the classic election posters with faces of the candidates and memorable sayings remain a central element in the election campaign, to mobilize the citizens, as well as the Tagesspiegel reported.
