50 years of Biberach library: Discover the future of reading!
On Thursday, October 24th, the library/media library in the Biberach district vocational school center celebrates its 50th anniversary, at the same time as the nationwide "Libraries Day". On this special occasion, a photo exhibition on the development of the library over the past five decades is presented. Visitors can try out nostalgic media such as film roles and cassettes as well as modern technologies such as VR glasses. In addition, all guests get the chance to apply for a free, unlimited library ID - simply bring an ID card or student ID! The signature of a legal guardian is required for minors.
The success story of this institution began in 1973 with the opening of the vocational school center, and in 1976 the library became open to the public. Since then, the media landscape has changed dramatically. From printed books and cassettes to the introduction of electronic data processing in the 1990s to modern offers such as e-books and free WiFi-the library remains a central place for the thirsty for knowledge of all ages. On the anniversary day, the opening hours are regular from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., which underlines the remarkable connection between tradition and progress.
