Adam Swaczyna returns: a silver medal trainer for Friedrichshafen

The return of Adam Swaczyna to his former place of work not only causes a sensation at VfB Friedrichshafen, but also throughout the volleyball community. After his impressive success with the Polish national team, where he won a silver medal at the Olympic Games, Swaczyna arrived in Friedrichshafen on Thursday - even a day earlier than expected.

A familiar place

Despite the almost five years that Swaczyna spent at the Polish Club Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, he immediately feels at home in Friedrichshafen, his old place of work. In an interview, he noticed that he did not need a navigation device to orient himself. "It was really a bit like coming home," he describes his return. His return to the same apartment, which he once lived in, reinforces this feeling even more. Swaczyna said: "It feels like I was only briefly at an away game."

Swaczyna not only has the beautiful view of Lake Constance in mind. With his co-trainers, Damian Musiak and Justin Ziolkowski, he plans to increase the dynamics of VfB Friedrichshafen. "We have to be the best VfB that we can be - not only in the field, but also with society and apart from sport. We want to make people happy, then we are too," he explains his ambitions. This vision also includes a close connection to the community, which is of growing importance for the club.

Reflection on the Olympic Games

Despite the success at the Olympic Games, the 0: 3 defeat in the final against France remains present in Swaczyna's thoughts. "It is clear that we wanted gold. Sometimes that's brutal. You take a medal with you and yet are sad," he reflects. At the same time, a positive perspective reports: "From day to day I understand more what we have achieved." The joy and pride of his fans and sponsors in Poland helps him to better process the setback.

Swaczyna expects from his new team that she is working as committed as the Polish national team to achieve great-this time with a decisive difference: the crowning glory through the championship title. He sees the challenge as an opportunity for VfB to continue to establish himself in the league.
