Biberach: Fee stability in danger - increase will soon be threatened!
In an exciting meeting of the company committee of the waste management company, District Administrator Mario Glaser announced that the garbage fees in the Biberach district are expected to increase in the next two to three years. A fee increase is currently being suspended for the 20th time in 2024, and the past eight years have even been shaped by lowering. Despite these stable fees, the waste management company (AWB) could expect a deficit of 1.5 million euros in 2025, since the costs of waste disposal will increase by 44 percent.
The fault of it? Unique developments on the world market, especially with paper prices that fluctuated between three and 300 euros per ton. The situation is tightened by higher disposal fees and rising raw material prices, plus personnel and environmental costs. Nevertheless, operations manager Frank Förster showed that the AWB can operate with reserves from previous years. There was a positive response to the correction and maintenance of stable fees: The district council will finally decide on October 25th whether they will remain stable.
