50 years of gadder tree outdoor pool: a success story of the renewal
In Bielefeld-Gadderbaum, the outdoor pool celebrates its 50th anniversary and invites the community to a special anniversary.
The outdoor pool, which opened exactly half a century ago, on July 13, 1974, has since attracted numerous bathers and has been offering relaxation in hot summer days. The construction costs were around 3.5 million D-Mark at the time, and after almost two years of construction, the outdoor pool opened its gates to the public.
In the 2000s, the Gadderbaumer outdoor pool was faced with the closure, but thanks to the determined commitment of the citizens, Bielefeld's first citizens' decision was able to secure the final preservation of the outdoor pool in 2013.
After a comprehensive renovation in 2016, the outdoor pool was reopened and has been shining in new splendor since then. Last summer, the outdoor pool support association was able to present an exciting innovation: a large climbing wall on the diving pool that inspires both children and adults.
The 50th anniversary of the outdoor pool in Bielefeld-Gadderbaum is reminiscent of the importance of community facilities for the well-being and leisure activities of the population. It shows how joint efforts and support can ensure that a beloved facility continues and how it is further developed and improved over the years in order to meet the needs of visitors. - nag
