Unusual visit to the fish staircase in Geesthacht
Geesthacht (dpa)-An unexpected guest recently caused a sensation at the fish staircase in Geesthacht: a young seal, accidentally reached the Elbe, found his way to Schleswig-Holstein. On Sunday he took a short break and enjoyed lunch in the form of a freshly caught fish near the shore, as the local police reported.
The only a few months old seal was captured by an experienced seal hunter. His new temporary home is the Sehundstation Friedrichskoog, where it is lovingly cared for and cared for. As soon as the little howler reaches a weight of 25 kilograms, it will be released into the North Sea. "The little one was not particularly enthusiastic about the idea and resistance - who likes to be interrupted while eating," says the official report.
The fish staircase usually serves to support fish that have to overcome the height of the Geesthacht StaustaTe in the Elbe in order to spawn up the river. But this time the hungry howler attracted attention and proved that nature sometimes causes surprises.
