Career at customs: young professionals start in Bielefeld!

Bielefeld - On September 1, over 1,700 young people begin their professional career at customs, including 19 trainees at the Bielefeld main customs office. These new colleagues were warmly welcomed by Arnd Hilwig, the head of the main customs office on Sunday. Hilwig emphasized that the decision for training or studying at customs is a clever choice for a strong and exciting profession.

The initiatives of customs are particularly important because they offer a variety of training opportunities. The young professionals in the middle service complete a two -year training, while the prospective customs officers and customs officers in the upper service complete a three -year study at the federal university for public administration in Münster, which ends with a bachelor's degree. This dual concept combines theory with practical experience to offer young specialists a comprehensive training.

variety of tasks

The different phases of the training take place not only in Bielefeld, but also in the education centers in Leipzig, Rostock, Plessow, Sigmaringen and at the new location in Erfurt. The practical parts of the training are carried out in different areas of the main customs office as well as in nearby customs offices and customs investigators. The prospective IT specialists gain practical experience in different sectors of the General Customs Directorate, which is especially important for modern customs administration.

The range of future activities is impressive. After completing the training or studying, graduates are used in a wide variety of areas, from tax survey to financial control to undeclared work to customs searches and other specialized units. Customs undertakes to take over all suitable young people, which offers the new employees a safe perspective in their professional field.

In particular, the graduates of the dual study in administrative informatics will find their areas of application in IT forensics, the digitization of processes in customs administration or in the care of complex databases. These developments show that customs not only treats traditional customs matters, but also invests in technological progress to go over time.

With a job at customs, the new trainees and students not only receive high -quality training, but also a safe job in a varied environment. Your work will not only contribute to tax income, but also serve consumer protection and securing jobs in Germany.

Customs also looks into the future and plans to offer additional training and study places in the coming years. Interested parties have the opportunity to apply for an attitude on September 1, 2025 until October 15, 2024, both in the middle and upscale customs service.
