Incident in Bielefeld: Young thief in custody

young repeat offenders ensures security

In the city center of Bielefeld, the police have taken an 18-year-old repeat offender in custody. Together with a 17-year-old accomplice, he stole his wallet for a 20-year-old Bielefeld by having danced him.

The victim quickly noticed the theft and was able to track down the perpetrators nearby. Thanks to an attentive witness who observed how the thieves emptied and disposed of the stolen wallet, the officers were able to temporarily arrest the young people.

The 18-year-old perpetrator was already known to the police on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 due to similar offenses and was therefore fed to custody. The following day, a judge issued a ceremony against him at the request of the Bielefeld public prosecutor.

This fast and efficient reaction from the police shows that the security of citizens in Bielefeld is taken seriously. Young repeat offenders may not continue to commit crimes and have to be held responsible in order to protect the community from further damage.

It is important that the citizens actively contribute to the investigation of crimes, as the attentive witness did in this case. Crime can only be successfully combated by close cooperation between the police and the population.
