Actively meet the demographic change with workshops!
On January 29, 2025, the first of several workshops will take place in Cottbus to deal with the mobility -needs of older people. This event, which is organized as part of the "Alterimental" project, aims to incorporate the experience of older citizens into demographic change. The venue is the Coco Commoning in Schlosskirchpassage 21/22, and participation is free of charge. The workshop series is coordinated by the Brandenburg University of Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Catholic University of Social Affairs Berlin and supported by the Movetolausitz initiative. If you are interested, participants can register by email or phone to take part in this important exchange.
A total of five workshops in various cities of Lausitz are planned. The next appointment to Cottbus will take place on January 30th in Forst, followed by other events in Schenkendöbern, Bad Saarow and Lauchhammer. The target group is above all older people whose active participation is of great importance for the design of their living conditions. These workshops not only offer space for dialogue, but also for the participation of the living environment of older people.
goals and challenges of the project
The “Alterimental” project has set itself the goal of improving the quality of life of older people in the peripheral German-Polish border region. It is about the development of sustainable living and working worlds, which also promote social participation, social work and regional development. An important challenge that addresses this project is the shrinkage of the population share of older people and the associated problems in the areas of general interest, health and care. Therefore, innovative solutions are to be developed through participatory approaches.
The initiative is financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the funding line "T! Room - Innovations for the Future of the Regions", with a funding amount of 5.9 million euros available for the next three years. The aim is to find effective solutions for the specific needs of older people through the exchange between science and practice in the planned practical research centers, which are to be founded in 2025.
resources and participation
Together with other initiatives and projects, the goal should be achieved to maintain the resources and potential of older people and to make it better usable. The focus is on articulating the special needs of this population group and bringing them into decision -making processes. Projects to support social participation and the commitment of older people, such as the existing practical research center for life models in old age in Heinersdorf, prove the value and the need for such measures.
These comprehensive approaches illustrate that taking older people into account in social processes is not only necessary, but also enriching. An important step towards a livable and inclusive future is taken for all generations.
