Wahlarena in Stuttgart: The most burning topics before the Bundestag election!

On February 12, 2025, an election arena took place in the Phoenixhalle in the Römerkastell in Stuttgart, just eleven days before the decisive Bundestag election. The event served to discuss central topics such as jobs, migration, climate protection, living and the consequences of war and crises. The discussion was moderated by Stephanie Haiber (SWR Aktuell) and Florian Weber (to the Baden-Württemberg).

In the round of the guests, numerous leading politicians were represented: Nina Warken from the CDU, Nils Schmid from the SPD, Franziska Brantner of the Greens, Judith Skdeley from the FDP, Marcus Frohnmaier from the AfD, Sahra Mirow von der Left and Jessica Tatti from the BSW. The audience was diverse and consisted of different age groups, educational stands and situations.

A look at the state election 2016

The upcoming Bundestag election also takes a look back at the political landscape in Baden-Württemberg. In the 2016 state elections, the CDU experienced a dramatic decrease from 12 percent to 27 percent of the vote and was therefore only the second strongest party. The Greens, on the other hand, were able to become the strongest party with 30.3 percent. The SPD fell to 12.7 percent and was overtaken by the AfD, which received 15.1 percent of the vote.

party voting share seats
Bündnis 90/The Greens 30.3% 47
CDU 27% 42
afd 15.1% 23
SPD 12% 19
FDP 8.3% 12
the left 2.9% 0

The election led to a dramatic redistribution of the seats in the state parliament in which the Greens took the lead, while the CDU and the SPD had to accept strong losses. In particular, the AfD is better off on its first start than before in surveys.

educational offers for the Bundestag election 2025

On the occasion of the Bundestag election on February 23, 2025, the State Center for Political Education Baden-Württemberg provides a new edition of "Make it clear! Politics-simply explained". This publication deals with controversial topics of the current traffic light coalition and explains legal options for early elections.

The materials contained are particularly useful that explain the central terms of the political system and the right to vote. A diagram illustrates the course of the Bundestag election, while a "coalition calculator" contributes to understanding possible majority formation in parliament. The materials are available as PDF and can be downloaded or ordered barrier -free.

With this multitude of discussions and resources, the organizers hope to provide voters comprehensively and to involve the political decision -making processes. The election arena and the accompanying educational project offer a comprehensive overview of the current challenges and the positions of the different parties.
