Future of Media: Gate in danger - Speyer is fighting for media education!

In an alarming step, the Rhineland-Palatinate State Media Institute decided to send its subsidiary Medien und Bildung RLP gGmbH into bankruptcy. This decision leaves the future of the important media educational work uncertain and brings the 16 employees: inside into a precarious situation. Speyer is particularly affected, where the media: gate, is an outstanding project that is operated together by the state media authority and the city of Speyer, in which the suspension is in the commitment. Partners such as the SWS Stadtwerke Speyer and the University of Speyer could also be affected.

The media opened in 2022: Tor has developed into a central place for digital education and creative development and offers, among other things, courses in 3D printing and video production. In view of the critical situation, the SPD Speyer appeals to the public to ensure the continuation of these essential offers. They emphasize the need for a stable, media educational team to ensure digital participation and diversity in the program. With a view to the upcoming third anniversary of the project, the participants hope that the employees: the inside will remain busy and the media: goal remains to counteract the threatening disinformation and fake news.
