Expert discussion: climate protection, an action for association and social development-DUH federal manager Jürgen Resch meets students at the environmental campus
A special guest at the Birkenfeld environmental campus
Last week students experienced an exciting moment at the Birkenfeld environmental campus when Jürgen Resch, Federal Managing Director of Deutsche Environmental Hilfe e. V. (DUH), came to a small group discussion. Instead of a public lecture for the general public, the focus of this meeting was on the direct exchange with prospective experts in the areas of nonprofit and NGO management, sustainable business and environmental law.The discussion about climate protection and environmental law
The talks revolved around the lack of political willingness to implement effective climate protection measures and the challenges that arise from the influence of different interest groups and lobby associations. Topics such as air quality in cities, speed restrictions and renewable energies have been discussed in detail. Jürgen Resch explained the possibility of the association's lawsuit that the DUH is available as an environmental protection association, and emphasized the importance of compliance with applicable laws.
The social role of environmental protection associations
In addition to the current environmental issues, the students were also interested in social development and the challenges that environmental protection organizations are facing an increasingly polarized society. The discussion showed how important it is to prepare young people for the complex tasks in the environmental protection area.
New opportunities through the Nonprofit and NGO management course
The DUH is one of the proud cooperation partners of the nonprofit and NGO management course at the Birkenfeld environmental campus. This innovative course, which can also be documented dual, aims to close the gap in managers for common good -oriented organizations. Professor Klaus Rick, initiator of the course, and Jürgen Resch have teamed up to prepare the students for a diverse professional future in the nonprofit area.
a sustainable campus with international recognition
The environmental campus Birkenfeld of the Trier University of Applied Sciences is not referred to as Germany's “greenest university location” for nothing. In 2023 he even took the excellent third place in the international Green Metric Ranking among almost 1,200 universities worldwide. This shows that the campus is not only in Germany, but also internationally a pioneering role in the field of sustainability.
