Intercultural festival: Café in Idar-Oberstein celebrates the second birthday!

Over 50 people from ten different countries celebrated the second birthday of the Wasenstraße meeting café in Idar-Oberstein. In keeping with the intercultural week, the café served as a meeting point to make contacts, exchange ideas about life on site and improve knowledge of German. The event has been taking place every two weeks since September 2022 in the parish hall of the St. Walburga Catholic Church. The highlight of the celebration was cultural delicacies and thanks to the numerous volunteers, without whom the café would not be possible.

District Administrator Miroslaw Kowalski, who spontaneously visited the Café, spoke in his speech about the importance of commitment and diligence based on his own history of migration. The Advisory Board for Migration and Integration of the city honored the continuing efforts to integrate and help newcomers. Visitors had prepared posters through their home countries in advance and presented the typical courts. The meeting café continues to invite new faces and is looking for volunteers.
