An unsuspecting man from Mannheim was victim to a refined fraud on Friday evening: When he wanted to make calls with his family via WhatsApp, he received an ominous security warning from Windows Defender. The fraudster, who pretended to be a member of Microsoft, threatened him with a virus on his PC and convinced him to reveal personal information such as his email address and IBAN to prevent theft.

The episode? A financial shock: almost 800 euros were transferred to various addresses via his account! After discovering the debit in emails from transfer services, he immediately blocked his account with his bank. But that was not all - when he tried to use his card at the machine, she was drafted directly. He filed a complaint with the police. The authorities urgently warn against never publishing personal data on the phone and contacting official bodies for suspects.
