Alcohol ride and diesel theft: police missions in Großenkneten

Delmenhorst (ots)

In the early morning hours of September 1, 2024, several incidents occurred that the Ahlhorn motorway police employed in Großenkneten. A sad day for traffic safety, it was shown how quickly decisions can take a dangerous turn in one night.

One of the critical cases concerned a 19-year-old novice from Poland, who was strongly alcoholic behind the wheel. Officials from the motorway police discovered their car on the A29 when he drove in striking snake lines. As early as the vehicle stopped, the police noticed the intensive smell of alcohol. A breath alcohol test confirmed the fears: 1.85 per thousand. This is far above the permitted border and a worrying sign, especially for a young driver who is in a sensitive learning phase. The incident led to the immediate arrest and the removal of a blood sample.

other traffic sins at night

But that was not the only incident that the police kept up this weekend. Shortly before midnight, the officers checked another vehicle that was on the A29 towards Oldenburg without licensees. During the check, it turned out that the 43-year-old driver was neither in the possession of a driver's license nor the motorcycle on which he drove was properly registered or insured. This is not only a hazard for the driver himself, but also for other road users. The motorcycle key was ensured and criminal proceedings were initiated.

Both the alcoholic trips that are hard to overlook as well as driving without a driver's license and insurance show how important traffic safety and standard compliance are on the streets. The motorway police appealed to all road users to act responsibly and to adhere to the legal requirements.

Duisburg Diesel - another incident

Another incident that caused additional concern was the theft of several hundred liters of diesel from a parked tractor -trailer. Between August 30 and September 1, the tank of the tractor -trailer was broken up at the "Engelmannsbäke" motorway parking lot, which led to considerable financial losses for the driver. The driver had parked his vehicle on Friday evening and noticed early Sunday morning that the tank was broken up and almost completely emptied. Theft of this size is not only an economic burden, but also contributes to uncertainty for everyone who is on the road regularly on the highway.

The police ask witnesses who have seen something suspicious in the area of the parking lot. Information can be transmitted to the Ahlhorn motorway police on 04435-93160. Every hint can help to hold those responsible and make the highway even safer.
