Experiment in Oberhausen: Clever distrust saves senior citizen!
An 86-year-old Oberhausener was not fooled by fraudulent callers on Tuesday evening (May 6th). An alleged police officer informed the senior citizen that her son was involved in a serious accident and that a young woman had killed. In order to get his son from custody, the fraudster, who spent her as a lawyer, needed a deposit of 53,000 euros.
But the resolute senior citizen remained suspicious and recognized the brazen stitch. When the caller finally brought her "son" on the phone, she could not see the crying voice and suspected. Thanks to her healthy distrust, she not only escaped the fraud stitch, but also a potential financial loss. These incidents remind us of how important it is to educate older relatives about such attempts to fraud.
