Traffic accident on the highway: drunk drivers causes damage and flees - police are looking for witnesses

On Wednesday evening, a traffic accident occurred on the highway in which a drunk driver was involved. At around 8:10 p.m., attentive witnesses reported a white BMW, which touched a protection plank at St. Leon-Rot in the direction of Mannheim. Then the driver continued his journey towards Hockenheim, although the vehicle and the guardrail had significant damage.

During the escape, the BMW driver is also said to have cut and forced a truck driver. The accident series finally ended when a randomly passing crew of an ambulance discovered the drunk driver next to his badly damaged BMW. The 43-year-old driver showed an alcoholic value of over 2 per thousand, which is why he was taken to the hospital for further examination.

The police were able to withstand the driver's license and now determines the total damage that arose from the accident. Witnesses or injured parties who can provide further information about the incident are asked to report to the Transport Group on 06227-358260.

It is of great importance that road users assume responsibility and are not at risk to themselves and others. Drunk drivers not only endanger their own lives, but also life of innocent road users. It remains to be hoped that this incident will help to raise awareness of the risks of alcohol at the wheel and to reduce the number of accidents on our streets.
