Flash strike leads to roof truss fire in Eving: fire brigade in action

On the evening of September 2, 2024, a dramatic event occurred in Dortmund when a violent thunderstorm moved across the city. In the Eving district, a free -standing house on Brechtener Straße was hit by a lightning strike, which led to a smoke development on the upper floor. The residents of the house noticed the smell of fire and immediately alerted the fire brigade. These side effects of a thunderstorm can quickly lead to dangerous situations and illustrate the importance of comprehensive fire protection provision.

All of a sudden, while the storm raged, there was a lightning strike that injured two of the house residents with a slight electric shock. The control center of the Dortmund fire brigade then had a fire truck and ambulance deployed to the site in order to help immediately. When the rescue workers arrived, smoke development at the roof of the roof was already seeing, which pointed out a serious problem. Trained firefighters knew immediately that immediate measures had to be taken to prevent worse things.

crucial measures by the fire brigade

The fire brigade implemented a two -track action to fight fire: On the one hand, a turntable ladder was used to get the fire from the outside, while the emergency services also penetrated with heavy breathing protection inside. This coordinated approach shows how crucial quick decisions and strategic action are in order to save human life and to keep damage to property as low as possible.

In order to locate the brand of the fire more precisely, the forces had to remove the roof inside cladding extensively. Finally, the emergency services managed to vacate the burning bars in the roof structure and extinguish the fire. At the same time, the slightly injured residents were medical care. After detailed investigations, two people were transported to a hospital, while a third resident who complained about circulatory complaints did not require any further treatment.

In order to be able to better achieve the rear roof structure, the fire brigade's telescopic joint mast was used. This special equipment enables an even greater height and is therefore particularly effective for such operations. Innovative technology and well -trained emergency services harmonize here to provide help as soon as possible.

After about three hours of intensive work, the fire brigade was ready with the fire fighting and cleaning up. However, due to the damage, the attic apartment remained uninhabitable until further notice. Whether the other apartments of the house can continue to be used depends on a more precise review by specialists. An electric shock caused by the lightning strike shows the dangers that can lurk in such situations.

The Brechtener Straße was completely blocked during the mission to grant the rescuer unhindered access. However, this procedure is also an indication of how important it is to plan in advance and to provide sufficient resources. In the night after the incident, the site was routinely subjected to a follow -up check by the fire service to ensure that no further dangers are lurking.

A total of 28 emergency services were involved, including the fire truck of the guard 2 (Eving) and other units from the guards 1 (center) and 4 (Hörde) as well as the emergency services of the city of Dortmund. The coordinated interaction of the firefighters as well as the technical equipment were crucial to prevent worse things. This incident again illustrates how important it is to be prepared for thunderstorms and the associated dangers and take the right measures to protect life and fight fires quickly.
