In the late evening of April 30, 2025, the Wuppertal fire brigade was called to an alarm at Wuppertal Central Station at 10:59 p.m. A bang and smoke development in the technical department of an intercity express train caused excitement. The train driver noticed the worrying sound, which immediately mobilized the emergency services. Around 50 firefighters moved out and searched for the affected area under respiratory protection.

Fortunately, no open fire could not be found, but the fire brigade ventilated and smudged into the affected areas to control the situation. The passengers of the affected train were transported further in a replacement train without delay. Due to the operational situation, all train traffic was temporarily discontinued, and there were traffic restrictions at the bus station of the main train station.
