On August 28, an important citizen dialogue took place in Wilavie in Wittlich, to which the mayor, the head of the protective police and the criminal police had invited. Despite the summer temperatures of over 30 degrees, over 50 interested citizens gathered to discuss topics related to security and order in their community.

The Wilavie as the heart of the city has proven to be an ideal place for this exchange. It symbolically stands for the coexistence of the community and promotes the cross -generational dialogue. The aim of the event was to offer residents a platform to express concerns and suggestions for improvement. This shows how important open exchange is in today's world, especially when it comes to the feeling of security of the citizens.

After a brief introduction to the three inviting people, the participants began to present their concerns. A central topic was the traffic situation in downtown Wittlich. The discussion was about the existing mobility concepts presented by Mr. Rodenkirch. It was promised that the citizens could be more active in the planning in order to better understand their needs and worries.

In addition, the visibility of the police in the city center was addressed, another point that was close to the citizens. Those present also addressed the need for speed controls to reduce dangerous situations in road traffic. The abolition of so -called “fear dreams” in the city was also discussed in order to strengthen the feeling of security of the residents.

An additional concern that was placed on the agenda was the discussion about a recently carried out event in which a Salafist hate preacher was present. This topic provided serious conversations because it was about security and social peace in Wittlich. The citizens expressed concern about potential dangers that could assume such events and emphasized the need for a strong police presence.

police chief Romy Berger was impressed by the participation and commitment of the citizens: "I am thrilled with how many citizens have accepted our invitation and discussed intensively and constructively with us. This shows me that there is a need for discussion among the population that we would like to take into account as a citizens' police!" This positive feedback underlines the importance of such dialog formats as a means of strengthening the trust between the police and the population.

The event was not only perceived as an exchange of information, but also as a possibility of personal contact between citizens and those responsible for the security authorities. The citizens present were grateful for the opportunity to speak directly to the decision -makers about their concerns.

Although the discussions were sometimes serious and controversial, there was an atmosphere of the common understanding. The dialogue enabled the citizens to raise their voices and to gain the impression that their concerns are taken seriously. Mayor and the police plan to continue this format in the long term to strengthen direct exchange and respond to the needs of the Wittliche population.
