On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, a 54-year-old Dutch at Niederrhein Airport in Weeze was taken up by the federal police at a border police exit control. The man wanted to fly to Tanger, Morocco. When checking his personal details, the officials found that there was an arrest warrant from the Hagen office against him for embezzlement. In addition, there were investigations by the public prosecutors in Cologne and Passau for fraud and other embezzlement.

In order to escape a possible 70-day prison sentence, the man paid a fine of 2,100 euros directly from the federal police. After completing the police measures, he was finally allowed to continue his trip.
