In the night of Saturday, a 24-year-old man broke into a commercial building in Moorstrasse in Verden. Thanks to attentive witnesses, the police were able to catch him in the act. The investigation is underway, and the police are asking for more witnesses to report on 04231/8060.

On Friday evening, a risky incident occurred in Schwanewede: a 65-year-old Opel driver disregarded the right of way and forced an oncoming vehicle to an abrupt full braking in order to avoid a collision. A police check found that the driver was considerably alcoholic-with over 1.8 per thousand. His driver's license was ensured and the onward journey was prohibited.

Also on Friday evening, a technical defect in Osterholz-Scharmbeck caused excitement: the pipeline of a manure fan burst, which scattered the contents on Bremer Strasse and the sidewalk. A specialist company had to be called to clean the contaminated area, and the lower water authority was also in use.
