Burglary wave in the Mettmann district - police asks for information

In the past few days, the police in the Mettmann district were confronted with a series of burglaries that took place in different cities and concerned different types of buildings. These incidents illustrate the increasing crime in the region and raise questions about the safety of the residents.

On Friday morning, September 6, 2024, a break -in occurred in a family home on the street "Am Brangenberg" in Velbert. Unknown perpetrators got violent access through the main entrance door and searched the rooms for valuables. The property damage incurred amounts to several hundred euros, but initially no specific information could be made on stolen objects.

In the same period, an ground floor apartment was also affected in an apartment building on Lessingstrasse in Velbert-Neviges. Here the perpetrators performed violently over the patio door and captured cash. There were also damage of several hundred euros.

Another ground floor apartment on Wielandstrasse in Velbert-Neviges was also attacked. The burglars penetrated through a window, searched for the apartment and stole a gold chain. The property damage was also estimated at several hundred euros.

A slump into a hairdressing business on Lohbachstrasse in Velbert-Nevige was particularly dramatic. In the early Sunday morning, September 8, 2024, witnesses noticed three suspicious young men who tried to remove a stolen furniture safe with a garbage can. Despite the timely alarm by the witnesses, the perpetrators managed to escape. The theft and the damage amount to several thousand euros.

in Wülfrath, from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, there were several basement breakdowns in an apartment building on Mettmanner Strasse. Several basement rooms were opened here, and a mountain bike and a pedelec were stolen. The damage amounts to several hundred euros again.

Another incident occurred on Monday morning, September 9, 2024, in an office building on Harkortstrasse in Ratingen-Tiefenbroich. Around 4:30 a.m., a beneficiary alerted the police after seeing three people gained access to storage rooms. Two suspects, 38 and 39 years old, were arrested by the police while they had valuable objects.

in Mettmann, a similar incident was reported on Saturday evening when strangers entered a terrace door into a row house and stole jewelry from previously unknown value. Here, too, the property damage is several hundred euros.
