Use update: fish deaths in the Westpark and high -rise fire in Forstenried

Munich (ots)

Currently, the emergency services of the Munich fire brigade are employed with two significant incidents in the city, which both the residents and the emergency services use.

On the one hand, the fire brigade has been fighting against a significant fish death at the Westparksee since Friday, September 7, 2024. This misfortune in the waters was caused by a lack of oxygen. On Friday afternoon, exactly at 1:00 p.m., the fire brigade mobilized up to 60 emergency services, which have moved out in 20 vehicles to cope with the situation. The fire brigade carries out extensive measures to ventilate the water and increase the oxygen content. Up to 12,000 liters of water per minute are pumped out of the lake and sprayed back to the surface by water cannons. In addition, part of the water is replaced by fresh water. These measures already seem to have an effect, because the oxygen content in the Westparksee has improved significantly. One expects an impending change of weather with falling temperatures to continue to relax. However, the use has not yet ended; The fire brigade remains on site and ensures the stability of the water balance.

high -rise fire in Forstenried

The high -rise fire in Buchloer Strasse in Forstenried, which broke out on Saturday, September 8, 2024, is another critical challenge. The roof structure of an apartment building ignited. In order to control the fire, around 150 fire brigade forces were deployed, supported by 50 vehicles as well as emergency services and the police. To combat the fire, two state-of-the-art high-pressure extinguishing systems of the Cobra type were used. The extinguishing work was completed at around 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, but the approximately 80 residents of the house could not return to their apartments, which is why emergency accommodation was set up.

On Sunday morning, the firefighters continued the measures to secure the building and remove loose parts of the roof cladding. The residents of the top two floors must continue to wait for the return to their apartments, while the other residents have granted access to their apartments.

These two incidents in Munich illustrate the challenges that the fire brigade and emergency services in the city have to master when coping with emergencies. The good cooperation of the various rescue units and the tireless use of the fire brigade ensures the well -being and safety of residents.
