Roofing fire in Hanover: resident injured, cat is dead
On Sunday afternoon, a devastating roof truss fire broke out in Badenstedter Straße in Hanover after a tenant of the attic apartment independently alerted and saved the fire brigade. The flames already hit the apartment when the fire brigade arrived at 2:05 p.m. Despite immediate fire fighting, the emergency services managed to prevent further spread of the fire, with a total of around 110 firefighters, several fire trucks and special vehicles were mobilized.
The tenant breathed smoke and had to be brought to a hospital, while tragically, her cat could not be saved. The post -extinguishing work lasted until the evening, with flight drones from the fire brigade also used to localize embers. The affected apartment is uninhabitable after the fire, but the two adjacent buildings are still habitable. The police were commissioned to investigate the cause of the fire. The exact damage incurred is still unclear.
