Great fire in Rietberg: warehouse of a paper works is on fire

in Rietberg, February 5, a dramatic fire occurred in a warehouse of a paper -processing company on Industriestraße. Shortly after 2 p.m., residents alerted the fire brigade and the police when the hall went up in flames. When the emergency services arrived, the building burned in a light, but luckily all employees had previously left the building - nobody was injured.

The fire brigade immediately started the extinguishing work, while a massive smoke development loaded the air around the hall. Residents were urgently asked to close windows and doors while the police redirected traffic in the area. From 4 p.m., however, the traffic measures could be lifted again and the warning of the smoke load was also relativized. The damage is estimated at several million euros. The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, the investigations by the Gütersloher criminal police are underway.
