Horse rescue in Oberneuland: Fire brigade saves animal from a life-threatening trench!
Emergency forces from the Bremen fire brigade saved a horse from a predicament in the Hodenberger Deich in Oberneuland on Sunday, May 18, 2025. The emergency call of a concerned citizen occurred shortly after 4 p.m. when the horse was helpless in a ditch. With the latest special equipment and support of the new specialist group of the large animal rescue of the Bremen-Blockland volunteer fire brigade, it was possible to numb the exhausted animal and then safely rescue.
The animal was handed over to its owner and a veterinarian after the extensive rescue operation and, according to the fire brigade, was well again after the operation. This operation was one of the first for the newly trained specialist group that was specially designed for the rescue of larger animals - a step that has been officially in force since mid -May. The fire brigade already has extensive experience in the large animal rescue, but this new special unit uses additional skills.
